Painter Fátima Carrión (@premamabodypaint) turns women’s pregnancy bumps into colorful works of art. “It’s super relaxing for the mother and stimulating for the baby,” says the artist, who lives and works in Sant Feliu de Guíxols in northeast Spain. “There are babies that follow along as I paint and kick at the brush. It’s a wonderful experience!”

Fátima uses body paint to apply playful designs onto the bellies of mamas-to-be and then documents the results, taking photos underneath black lights, underwater or outside. Most mothers get painted between six and eight months into their pregnancy, says Fátima, but some push the limits, “and just a few hours after the session, they’re off to the hospital! And when they have their babies, they think of me.”
